What’s the difference between a cape and a capelet?

I’ve designed a couple of crochet capelets now and if I’m completely honest I didn’t know what they were until I started to do some research!

I suppose in terms of what you want to call it doesn’t matter all that much but technically, here’s the difference between the two –

A cape is generally defined as a sleeveless garment or part of a garment, hanging from the neck over the back, arms, and shoulders, but not reaching below the hips while capelet is a smaller cape worn over the shoulders.

So, I think this design and my Vintage Crochet Capelet Pattern both fit nicely into the definition of a capelet don’t you?

About the Woodland Crochet Capelet Pattern

This chunky crochet pattern uses the softest of yarns and the magic of the crochet basketweave stitch make this stunning cape a pleasure to make and a joy to wear.

It’s a really fun and simple crochet pattern to make and gives you great practise at crochet post stitches which I love!

Yarn

To make this chunky crochet Capelet I used Wool Couture Cheeky Chunky yarn. It’s 100% Merino Wool, 200g/130m/142yds.
