About This Easy Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern

Whether you are a beginner wanting to learn new techniques and stretch your crochet knowledge, or you have experienced hands that fancy a TV project to work on in the evenings, this crochet baby blanket is for you!

The simple stitch repeat of each section means that there are only three elements to learn for the blanket, but the colour placement throughout makes it appear far more complicated than it is.

Crisp, clean edges and solid bands between sections make the blanket pattern modern, stylish and gender neutral too. This would make a perfect baby shower gift!

Anyone who knows me knows that I love designing and making a crochet blanket for babies! I’d love for you to check out my 6 Easy Crochet Blanket Patterns for Beginners, or explore the rest of my crochet blanket free patterns!

Yarn

To make the Peaches and Teal crochet baby blanket I used Sublime Baby Cashmerino Silk DK which is 75% merino wool, 20% silk, 5% cashmere, 50g/116m and literally feels ‘sublime’. I realise that sounds cheesy but it really is!

You will need: 2 balls each: Squash (666), Splash (124), Little Linen (344) and Pebble (006)

A great alternative is Capra Double Knit Yarn by WeCrochet which is 85% fine merino, 15% cashmere, 123yds/50g and comes in beautiful colour choices.

Finding the right yarn for your projects can be tricky sometimes and depends on so many things like fibre content, yarn weight, budget, colour choices and more. I’ve put together a guide for the best yarn for crochet blankets to help you discover the things I’ve learnt over the years as both a designer and maker that help me choose the perfect one.

Sizing

The finished blanket measures 80 cm x 60 cm. Tension isn’t essential for this project but might affect the amount of yarn you use.
