About This Christmas Crochet Wreath
Can you believe it’s almost November?! Maybe it’s just because we’re in a bit of a haze at the moment, but time is just flying by. I’m so delighted to share that we welcomed our new baby Oliver almost two weeks ago and he is just the most wonderful little chap.
And while I’m loving these newborn days, I also need to get my head about Christmas shopping soon too! At least I have winter decorating in hand with this crochet snowflake wreath.
Although it may look a little tricky, I promise it isn’t. There are two different versions of snowflakes to make and the base is a complete cheat of the yarn just wrapped around it (shhhh, don’t tell anyone!).
The fun part of the making is the part where you can use glue or spray starch to stiffen the snowflakes so that they keep their shape.
You can customize this crochet Christmas wreath by making a few red or green snowflakes – or any festive holiday color of your choosing. And there are so many projects you can do once you learn how to crochet a snowflake!
Yarn and Materials
I used King Cole Giza which is 100% Cotton 4ply 50g/158m and works perfectly for the intricate little snowflakes.
You will need 2 balls of Glacier 21941 and 1 ball of White 2190
2mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
PVA glue – you will need this to stiffen your snowflakes, it’s messy but loads of fun!
Foam wreath ring – 25cm diameter (you can use bigger or smaller though if you like of course and just make more or less snowflakes!)
Glue gun – to attach all the snowflakes to the wreath.
Tension and Sizing
Tension isn’t essential for this project as it really doesn’t matter how big or small your snowflakes are.
My small snowflake measured 6.5cm across when glued and the large snowflake measured 9cm across when glued, but don’t worry too much if yours aren’t the same.

Small crochet snowflake pattern:

Cover the Foam Ring
Begin to assemble your crochet wreath by winding the Glacier cotton around the foam ring to completely cover the foam.
Secure in place with a small amount of glue at the back.
Glue the Snowflakes
Now comes the fun part – glue the crocheted snowflakes to hold their shape! All you need to do is literally dunk them into some PVA glue and then spread them out carefully to dry.
When the glue hardens, you will have perfectly stiff little snowflakes to add to your wreath.
My top tips for this part is to dry them on some baking or parchment paper. They are much less likely to stick or discolour on this. Also, expect to get very messy, I tried lots of different things to avoid it but ended up just embracing the mess!
Add the Crochet Snowflakes to the Wreath
Once your snowflakes are nice and dry, all you need to do is add a little bit of hot glue from your glue gun to the backs of them and secure to the wreath.
The layout of them is entirely up to you but I started with the larger ones at the bottom and then worked the smaller ones on the top to finish.
That’s all there is to it! Add a ribbon of your choice and hang wherever you’d like for the festive season. So easy and so fun!
